A report said Willie Earl Hardy, 37, who lives on 1204 Sulphur Springs Road, told Sgt. Jimmy Johnson that Thomas came into his yard, pulled a knife on him, threatened him and then chased him in an attempt to cut him with the knife.
Hardy said he was talking with his neighbor, Joseph Patterson, when Thomas came onto his property making threats.
Patterson also told Johnson - who was called to the scene around 4:30 p.m. - that Thomas tried to cut him, but he did not want to press charges.
Both Patterson and Hardy said Thomas had been drinking alcohol.
