Sims had 11 hits. Jake Walton was 2-for-3 with a double; Rashaad Green was 1-for-2, reached on an error, walked and scored four runs; Cal Arnold had a triple; Kadarius Means had a double; Chase Austin and Gerald Alman each had a triple; and Dillon Rogers had a hit.
Dustin Payne was the winning pitcher. Rogers and Keiston Smith pitched in relief.
“It was a good game, good win,” said coach David Crisp. “Our pitching was good, we hit the ball good. I was most impressed that we made no errors. Overall, a good team win.”
T.J. Jeter took the loss and got Jonesville's lone hit.
“We gave up too many unearned runs,” said coach Michael Mullinax. “We got a few of our younger kids in to get them a little experience. Things weren't terrible, we had some positives. T.J. pitched well enough to keep us in the game. We just didn't help him out very much defensively. We swung the bats better than at Clover. We still have a little bit of rust to knock off. We should be fine. Congrats to Sims.”
Sims (1-0) travels to Lockhart today. Jonesville (0-2) travels to Landrum today.
