Charges have been dropped against one man charged with beating and robbing a Pizza Hut delivery driver, but three more people have been arrested.
Chief Sam White of the Union Public Safety Department said the charge of strong armed robbery has been dismissed against Zedrick D. Harris, 21, of 1207 Arthur Boulevard. Harris was arrested as the result of an identification made by the victim, Bruce Edward Jett III, after Jett viewed a photo lineup.
“After further investigation it was determined that the identification by the victim was not accurate and he (Harris) was not present,” White said.
Charged Monday with strong armed robbery and second-degree lynching are Cendias O. Tucker, 18, of 113 Standpipe St., Union, and two boys who are 16 and 15.
White said the three were arrested after interviewing the people who had been in an apartment in the “H” building the night Jett was beaten and robbed.
“The three subjects charged have given statements concerning their involvement,” White said.
White said one other juvenile will be charged in the case. Officers are looking for him.
Jett told officers he thought at least four people attacked him after he delivered a pizza at Lakeview Garden Apartments Wednesday. Jett said he was choked from behind, beaten in the face and $36 was taken from him.
