Louise Becknell Gossett, 85, widow of Harold F. Gossett, died Friday, Feb. 29, 2008, at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home after a long illness.
Mrs. Gossett was born in Union, Nov. 5, 1922, a daughter of the late Bishop Marvin Becknell and Elizabeth Fowler Becknell. She was retired from Milliken & Co., Monarch Plant and was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church.
Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Aleen Lackey of Anderson, three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Anna Mae O'Shields, Mrs. Ruth Gossett and Mrs. Dorothy Gossett; two special nieces, Dora Blackwell of Jonesville and Bobby Jean Lawson and husband Harold D. of Union and a number of other nieces and nephews Mrs. Gossett was predeceased by her stepmother, Alma Going Becknell and two sisters, Mrs. Overa Warren and Mrs. Lois Smith.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2008, at New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Scott Gilmer and the Rev. Robert Branch.
Employees and staff of Ellen Sagar Nursing Home and Hospice Care of South Carolina, Union are asked to serve as the honorary escort.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery.
