deals for Lortabs, cocaine
Staff Writer
Seven people have been arrested in two drug cases made by narcotics officers.
In one case, Sherri Renee Kirby, 29, of 4731 Jonesville-Lockhart Highway, Union, and Kenneth Charles Therrell, 30, of 323 Second St., Lockhart were charged Wednesday by the Union County Sheriff's Office with purchasing a controlled substance and purchasing cocaine.
A report said Lt. John Sherfield, Lt. David Kitchens and officers from the Whitmire Police Department and Union Public Safety Department set up a drug buy location in Union with an informant who arranged deals. Ms. Kirby and Therrell pulled up in a vehicle and Ms. Kirby got out and bought five Lortabs and cocaine. As she left, both she and Therrell were arrested.
Later, the informant told officers that more people were coming to buy drugs. A vehicle with five people inside pulled up. One of the passengers, Kyle Gory, 18, of 410 Rogerstown Road, got out, came in and brought five Lortabs and 56 grams of marijuana. He and the four people with him were charged with purchasing marijuana and purchasing a Schedule 3 narcotic.
The others arrested were John Anthony Stafford, 19, of 1502 West Springs Highway, Jonesville; Todd Michael Moore, 19, of 2543 Meansville Road, Jonesville; Matthew Ray O'Shields, 17, of 236 T Bishop Road, Jonesville; and Mitchell Bryan Benton, 18, of 123 Fant St., Union.
Charges upgraded
A Union teen-ager arrested on drug charges by the sheriff's office on May 25 has been charged as an adult.
Daniel Timothy McFalls, of 249 Fairview Church Circle, was charged Wednesday with distribution of ice. McFalls, who turned 17 on Oct. 18, was initially charged as a juvenile.
A report said Kitchens and Sherfield provided informants with $60. They met with Kellie Paige Richardson, 33, of the same address as McFalls and talked with her about buying ice.
They went to her residence. She gave the ice to McFalls and he gave it to the informants in exchange for the money.
Kitchens and Deputy Kevin Smith remained to watch the residence while Sherfield went to get a search warrant. They saw a green vehicle leaving the residence with four people inside, including Ms. Richardson. They stopped the car and Kitchens read Ms. Richardson her rights and asked for the sheriff's office buy money. She pulled it and $600 more in cash from her pocket. This and a bag containing more ice were seized from her.
Ms. Richardson admitted she had given McFalls the ice to sell and he admitted being part of the deal.
Sherfield returned with the search warrant. More ice was found in a bathroom of the residence.
Ms. Richardson's case has not yet come to court. She and a co-defendant pleaded guilty in April of 2007 to possession of a Schedule 4 controlled substance and possession of methamphetamine (ice). She was given a three-year prison sentence which was suspended to three years probation. She was ordered to get substance abuse counseling and undergo random drug testing.
