Man faces assault charge

A Union man is accused of cutting another man on the head with a beer bottle during an altercation Saturday.

Lance Brandon McCluney, 23, of 120 Sims Drive, Union, was charged Sunday by the Union Public Safety Department with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature. He was released from the Union County Jail after posting 10 percent of his $5,000 surety bond.

Johnna Patrice Johnson, 22, of 405 Duncan Ave., Buffalo, was charged with assault and battery. She was released after posting 10 percent of a $544 cash bond.

The incident occurred at 300 May St., around 9:15 p.m. Saturday. Tiffany Brandon, 29, said McCluney hit 27-year-old Stephen Brandon in the head with a beer bottle, causing a laceration above Brandon's left eye and a contusion on the top of Brandon's head. At the same time, Ms. Brandon said Ms. Johnson hit her in the face with her fist.

Brandon was transported to Wallace Thomson Hospital for treatment by Union County EMS.

Theft and vandalism

Friday, a woman told Officer Randy Canupp that she saw three men walking in the parking lot of McBeth Baptist Church near her home on 202 2nd Ave. She heard glass breaking and her bedroom window was broken out with a rock. Damage was estimated at $100.

On 118 Buffalo St., a man told Officer Angela Cogdill Saturday that someone broke into his house and took a picture of him and his daughter which was in a wooden frame on the shelf of his headboard. The victim estimated this was worth $40.

Sunday, a Moore man told Officer Eddie Williams that someone vandalized his 1999 Ford Ranger while it was parked beside CVS on 322 West South St. Someone keyed the passenger side, causing around $1,500 damage.
