A Jonesville teen-ager is accused of selling drugs to a confidential informant twice in one day.

Matthew Ray O'Shields, 17, of 236 T Bishop Road, was charged with distribution of marijuana and distribution of crack cocaine.

A report said Lt. John Sherfield provided an operative with $20. The operative met O'Shields at Stevenson's Mobile Home Park on 141 Oak Grove Road and purchased marijuana.

Later that same day, an operative went back again with $20 and purchased crack from O'Shields.

Charged in theft

John Thomas Harkins, 29, of Livesay Pre-Release Center, Spartanburg, was charged Jan. 23 by the Union County Sheriff's Office with grand larceny. Harkins' booking sheet from the Union County Jail said warrants were mailed to the South Carolina Department of Corrections to be served on Harkins.

Harkins is accused of being involved with the theft of a heat pump worth $3,000 from 161 Red Barn Road around April 16, 2007.

Traffic stop leads to arrest

Nathan Alexander Kerr, 26, of 1250 Oak Ridge Place, Greenville, was charged Wednesday by the Union Public Safety Department with speeding, driving under suspension, simple possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance.

A report said Sgt. David Brewington was running stationary radar on S.C. 49 when a white BMW came by him traveling 51 mph in a 35 mph zone. Kerr, the driver, had a suspended license. Because he was being arrested, Kerr was searched by Brewington and Cpl. Scott Farr. A Xanax pill and a Skelaxin pill were found inside a bullet-shaped container on Kerr's key chain. Officers also confiscated digital scales and a bag containing what is believed to be marijuana.

A woman in the car with Kerr said she knew nothing about the items. She was not charged.

Burglary

Thursday, a victim on 352 Linersville Road, Buffalo, told Deputy Kevin Smith that someone had taken items from a home he is vacating. Missing are 20 Playstation games, a Playstation II and a DVD player.
