Four departments fought a fire that heavily damaged a Buffalo home Tuesday afternoon.
Buffalo, Cross Keys, Bonham and Monarch fire departments were called to the home of Dennis and Tracy Bevis and their children on 906 Flat Drive around 3:40 p.m.
Buffalo Chief Bryan Gardin said the fire originated in the master bedroom of the house and was started by a child playing with a lighter.
“It started there and run up the wall,” Gardin said.
Damage was estimated at $65,000. Gardin said the Bevis family is being assisted by the Union Service Center of the American Red Cross and they are staying with a family member.
“I want to thank Cross Keys, Bonham and Monarch for assisting us,” Gardin said. “And I want to let my guys know they did a good job. They had it contained before I got there; I drove from work at Cedar Hill (Milliken). The last three calls we have had, everyone has done a good job.”
Buffalo Fire Department fought another blaze Sunday on the Bailey Road that destroyed a home.
