Greer jumped on top early, leading by 14 after the first period. UCHS cut the lead to five points at the end of the third quarter, but couldn't get any closer.
“A case of not getting effort from everybody that was involved - they did not play to their fullest ability,” said Jacket coach Joe Pitt. “We've got to understand that once we go on the floor we have to have all five people playing hard at the same time.”
Nick Rubio led Greer (10-6, 4-2) with 27 points, Chandler Hash added 22 and Chris Dean had 20.
Devin Booker led UCHS (10-5, 3-2) with 20 points, Dwight Brannon added 18, Darrion Booker and Brandon Stapleton each had 11.
Both Bookers had 12 rebounds. Marcus Whitener had 11 assists and five steals.
Union County missed 22 layups.
“Against a team that shoots the ball as good as Greer (9 3-pointers) , you've got to make your opportunities and capitalize on them,” said Pitt.
