The Greenville Enduro Riders host the Little Brown Jug Hare Scramble cross country motorcycle races this weekend in Union County.

The races will be held at Silver Hawk Plantation on Mudbridge Road. Kids' races will be held at noon Saturday. Adult racing will be at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Sunday.

Admission for spectators is $5. Entry fees for racers are $20 for Saturday racing and $40 for Sunday racing. Racing is for any off-road bike.

The Hare Scramble has been held in Union before, but this is the first time at this location. The race will cover all types of terrain, including gullies and woods.

Organizers expect 60 to 70 youth racing on Saturday and 200 adults on Sunday. Racing is on a timed basis and class awards are given.

Racing is sanctioned by the Southeastern Enduro Association. Kids' races last from 30-40 minutes for younger racers and an hour for older racers on Saturday. The first adult race on Sunday will last 1 hour and a half, the second will last two hours.

Greenville Enduro Riders have been promoting off-road racing for 50-plus years and youth off-road racing for 10 years.

President Phil Ellis said the group is working with the Union County Motorsports Association to promote racing in the area.
