A Union man is accused of breaking into Piggly Wiggly earlier this month.
Gary Edward Ahles, 57, of 207 Arthur Boulevard was charged Wednesday by the Union Public Safety Department with petit larceny and second-degree burglary.
According to arrest warrants signed by Investigator Robbie McGee, Ahles broke the glass out of the store on Nov. 16, went in and took two cartons of Marlboro 100 cigarettes.
A report said Officer Mike Gregory responded to an alarm at the store on 400 East Main St. and found the glass broken and a bundle of firewood lying on the side walk in front of the door.
The break-in was recorded by a store surveillance camera.
Ahles is being held in the Union County Jail. His bond had not been set this morning.
