The Union Christian Day School Lady Eagles defeated Shield of Faith (Rock Hill) 3-0 on Thursday.

"The girls gave the fans a show, but more importantly showed themselves how teamwork is the key to victory. We saw more teamwork and less one hit play than we have all season", said coach Preston Bennett. "Coach Teresa Phillips has brought the girls back around and I think they like the feel of winning. The girls needed this win to prepare them for the final stretch. I think we'll see a different team on the court for the last four games. I stress the word - team."

The Lady Eagles play Trinity in Rock Hill at 6 tonight.

Boys team

The Eagles played the Shields following the girl's victory, losing 3-2.

"I'm proud of the way my boys played. We went into this match knowing we only had five players and that a victory would be hard won. In the end, it all came down to five tired boys playing their hearts out against the Shields, who had six plus a bench to draw from," said Bennett. "I don't make excuses for the boys, they gave it their all. We'll be back to full strength for our final game (Tuesday at Carolina Christian in Lancaster)."

The girls also play Carolina Christian on Tuesday. The last home game of the UCDS volleyball season will be the Lady Eagles hosting Walnut Grove at 6 p.m. Thursday.
