A Union woman ended up in jail after she allegedly slapped a man and scratch another and threatened to strike the second man with a hammer.

Linda Susan Brock, 42, 403 Stutts Avenue, Union, is charged by the Union Public Safety Department with criminal domestic violence.

The incident report states an officer was dispatched just after midnight Friday morning to Stutt’s residence in reference to a domestic disturbance. The victim said Brock was destroying property inside the residence and he had no idea what caused her to become so irate. He said Brock had also slapped a family member about the face. The victim said Brock had grabbed a claw hammer and threatened to hit him and had clawed him about his arms and cursed him repeatedly. The report states the victim presented the officer with evidence that his arms had been scratched and that fingernail marks were apparent.

The officer also spoke with the family member who Brock had allegedly slapped and he said he too had no idea why she’d become so irate. He said she’d slapped him in the face and he’d gotten the hammer from her hands with which she’d threatened to strike the victim. The family member said he did not want her prosecuted.

Both men said Brock’s actions may have been the result of a medical condition.

The officer then spoke to Brock but she said she did not wish to speak with him. When he managed to get her to discuss her medical condition, the report states Brock said she’d taken all her prescribed medication and was fine. The officer then asked her to check on it but she declined reiterating that she was fine, adding that the two men she was accused of attacking were the good guys and she was the bad guy. When the officer advised her of the allegations of made against her, the report states Brock said they could say what they wanted to say.

With the evidence of physical abuse, the officer placed Brock under arrest for criminal domestic violence. The report states Brock refused to be handcuffed and said she was not going to jail. When the officer reached for her, the report states Brock laid down on the floor. With the assistance of another officer, the responding officer got Brock’s arms from underneath her and quickly handcuffed. The report states that at one point Brock attempted to bite the responding officer.

After being taken to jail, the report states Brock consented to have her medical condition checked by staff. After getting the results of the test, jailers contacted Wallace Thomson Hospital’s emergency room and was told by the staff that no medical attention was needed.
