Sis was in the 10th grade at Jonesville High School. One day during math class, the teacher asked Sis, “If you bought 12 cantaloupes at $1.25 each and then sold them at 99 cents each, would you show a profit or loss?” Sis said, “Well teach, after using my Chinese calculator I got it figured out. I would lose on the dollars, but gain on the cents!!”

What A Difference 25 Years Makes

This quote comes to me from Mr. J.D. Bright. It was passed on to him by ol’ Doug Humphries. “Twenty-five years ago we had Ronald Reagan, Bob Hope and Johnny Cash. Twenty-five years later we have Obama, no hope and no cash!!”

The Way To Criticize

Mr. Ralph Harris over in Cherokee County tells me this, “Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you are a mile away and you have their shoes.”

Area Prayer Concerns

Louise Kirby, Joyce Bishop, Sis Haney, Addie Haney, Christie Haney, Faye Love, Larry Belue, Mike Gregory, Boone Morris, Tracy Owens, Mickey Crayne, Willie Scales, Betty Scales, Barbara Inman, Hot Shot Farr, and S.J. Harris.

A Very Special Birthday

On Oct. 1, Sis Haney will celebrate a birthday. Sis would not say how old she would be, but did say that she was born back when dinosaurs roamed the earth. For all the stories I have written about her, I plan to make it up by taking her to the Waffle House and then to Vic Bailey Ford about dark and watch the lights come on. Many more to you Vivian.

Sympathy

Our sympathy to the family of Mrs. Dot Thompson Robinson. She was a longtime neighbor and a friend. She will be missed.

Invitation

Harold Loyd “Guitar” Thompson says to come on down to Harris Street on Friday nights at 7 p.m. Don’t bring any money, just your snuff and a spit can. Admission is free.

Fact

Did you know that on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 1945, one million were people idled by strikes in the U.S.? Now you know.

Meetings

Jonesville Prudence Lodge will meet Thursday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m.

Duncan Lodge at Buffalo will meet Monday, Oct. 3 at 7:30 p.m.

Remember In Prayer

Please remember Mrs. Barbara Inman as she is having some medical problems at this time. Keep the family in prayer.

Amnesia

My friend, Mr. Howard Whitehead, must have a severe case of amnesia. He went to the Laurens-Union County football game and was so excited he couldn’t remember who was playing and could not remember the final score. There’s a pill for that. It is called Aricept.

Wisdom

If you live long enough, you will make mistakes, but if you learn from them, you will be a better person.

— Bill Clinton

Till next time
