The Union Nationals have been perfect to date, winning every game of the regular season and going 4-4 in the district tournament. As important as winning is, Coach Mitch Sinclair said his main goal is to set a Christian example for his players.

“We want to teach them life lessons,” said Sinclair, “The most important thing, to us, is for the guys to grow into Godly men.”

Heading into the state tournament, Sinclair said his pitching is solid. “We used three pitchers in the district tournament, but we have a good seven out of twelve that can pitch if needed.”

The Nationals are not focusing their attention on other teams participating in the state tournament, but rather, on what their team can bring to the table.

“The way I look at it, we have to be ready for whomever we face,” said Sinclair.

The Nationals are currently seeking sponsorship and donations to aid expenses during the trip. Sinclair added that he’d like to thank all those who sponsored Dixie Youth Baseball this year.

Further donations to help fund the Union Nationals’ trip to Cheraw can be made by contacting Kelly Small at (864) 426-1292.
