UNION — Mr. James Young, Jr., 237 Beltline Road, Union, SC, the son of the late James Young, Sr. and Mrs. Jessie Mae Bowman Young, departed this earthly life on Sunday July 3, 2011 at his home after an extended illness. He was a former member of the Baptist faith and at an early age, joined the Corinth Baptist Church. Mr. Young was a 1953 Graduate of Sims High School and served in the Unites States Army during World War II.
Also, he was a former employee of Buffalo United Merchant Mill and had a passion for construction work.
His survivors include a brother, Ronald (Barbara) Young of Jonesville, SC; a niece, Joanne Montgomery of Union, SC; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia Young Boyd and Marie Kershaw Dunn.
The family will receive friends at the home of his niece, Joanne Montgomery, 237 Beltline Road, Union.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Gibson and Brown Funeral Home with the Reverend James Williams, officiating. The burial will follow at the Rosemont Cemetery, Union, South Carolina. Viewing will be held from 9 a.m. until the hour of service on Thursday.
