Three Dixie Girls softball teams are going to state competition and you can help them pay for their trip to their tournaments and have a good meal in the process.
Bojangles will hold a “Spirit Night” for the Dixie Girls Softball League from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday. Coach Jerry Foster said the restaurant will give the league a percentage of all sales made during those hours. The money will help finance the trips to state competition by the Dixie Darlings, Dixie Belles and Dixie Debs.
The Dixie Darlings will be competing this weekend in Hartsville while the Dixie Belles and Dixie Debs will be competing this weekend in Florence. Foster said the proceeds from Wednesday’s Spirit Night will help pay for the teams to travel to and from the tournaments; the motels they stay in; and their meals while at their tournaments.
Foster said the teams and their parents have been working to raise money for the trips to the tournaments, including a car wash held Saturday and Sunday at Bojangles. He said the teams raised more than $900 with their cash wash, but that an additional $1,500 is needed.
Persons wanting to contributed to the teams may do so at the US 176 branch of Provident Community Bank. Ask for Vonya Sumner. If donations are made by check, Foster said they should be made out to Dixie Girls Softball.
