The Union County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the armed robbery of a truck driver by three men Thursday.

The incident report states deputies were dispatched Thursday afternoon to Cedar Grove Road at Spartanburg Highway in reference to an armed robbery involving a truck driver. The victim told deputies he’d been robbed by a Hispanic male and two while males. He said the Hispanic male and one of the white males attacked him while the third male remained in their vehicle. The man said the Hispanic male had a pocketknife he drew during the attack.

The report states the suspects were in a light blue, older model Ford Taurus with rust on all side. The three fled the scene heading toward US 176.

Deputies searched the area but were unable to find the assailants. The report states the three stole $400 from the victim.

Assault And Battery

A Union man was arrested after he allegedly attacked a woman with light bulbs.

Clifton Lee Edwards, 41, 129 E. Lee St., Union, is charged by the Union Public Safety Department with assault and battery and disorderly conduct (public drunk).

The incident report states an officer was dispatched Thursday afternoon to a domestic disturbance at 118-A Chambers Avenue, Union. The officer was met by the victim who the report describes as bleeding from the back of her left bicep and with two large knots on her forehead. The woman said she wanted Edwards locked up.

The report states the woman said Edwards was leaving from the back of the residence. The officer went to the back of the residence and saw Edwards walking down the sidewalk toward West Henrietta Street. He told Edwards to stop. Edwards said there was nothing wrong and that the victim had fallen. He said the victim had struck him on the back of the neck. The officer, however, found no injuries on Edwards.

The report states the officer noticed Edwards’ speech was slurred and placed him under arrest for public drunk and assault and battery and had him transported to jail.

The victim told the officer there had been an argument over her refusal to get into a car with a relative because she did not feel good. She said at that point Edwards got mad and started hitting her with several light bulbs on her forehead and the back of her left bicep.
