The Nurse of the Month recipient for May 2011 is Jan Stevens, RN. Jan is a full time nurse in Surgery.
Jan’s nominators stated:
“Jan is a very dedicated, loyal Wallace Thomson Hospital employee. We are grateful that Jan returned to work at Wallace Thomson Hospital six years ago.”
“Jan is excellent in her practice as an RN in Surgical Services at Wallace Thomson Hospital. She organizes her resources and makes sure she has everything needed prior to starting a surgical procedure. She is meticulous and exacting of herself and others. Jan can function on any procedure in the OR, but specializes on Orthopaedics and Ophthalmology.”
“Jan is the constant in the OR who ensures standards of care are met, staff members at all levels fulfill their roles safely and competently, and patients are provided with the high quality of care they expect to receive. Jan takes pride in her work and makes the work flow go smoothly. She has an exceptional rapport with the physicians and her co-workers. Staff members have commented on her positive personality — no matter what’s going on or what kind of day it has been — Jan keeps the negativity out of the workplace.”
“Jan is an accomplished sportswoman. Her interests outside of the hospital include wild game hunting.”
“Jan is a team player and an asset to the department and the hospital.”
