The woman, 80, met with a Union County Sheriff’s deputy Thursday morning to report she’d received phone calls from a man she described as having what sounded like an Indian accent. She said the man told her she’d won a quantity of money and asked for personal information which she refused to give him. The woman said the amount the man told her she’d won varied from call to call but was always between $1 million and $2 million.
The incident report states the woman said the man had called her eight times in the preceding four hours.
