The 2011 Union County Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet will be held Thursday, March 24, at 7 p.m. in the Family Life Center of Tabernacle Baptist Church. This year’s banquet already has 16 Corporate Sponsors, five Silver Sponsors and two Bronze Sponsors. Over 225 have made their reservations and 250-300 are expected to be in attendance. Space and sponsorships are still available. You can make a reservation by calling the Chamber of Commerce office at 864-427-9039 or emailing Renee Alexander at ralexander@unionsc.com.

Tabernacle Baptist Church will host the event and the meal will be catered by Midway. Background music and a tribute to our troops will be provided by classical guitarist Michael Cash.

The program will be centered on the accomplishments of the past year and projections for the year to come. Chamber President Brian Stone, of Lockhart Power, will present an overview of highlights of the board’s efforts of last year and provide a charge to the new president. Union County Supervisor Tommy Sinclair will address the group and share a vision for the county. He will share the stage with the Honorable Harold Thompson, Mayor of the City of Union, who will share some key efforts being implemented by the city.

The highlight of the evening will be the presentations of awards. Torance Inman, Executive Director of the Chamber, will present awards to those nominated and selected for their contributions to Union County throughout 2010. The awards will be: Industry of the Year, Small Business of the Year, Service Group of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Friend of the Chamber, Shining Star and President’s Choice.

This will be an evening of food, fellowship, entertainment, information, excitement and celebration. If anyone would like to come, they do not have to be a chamber member. Chamber members, industry leaders, small business leaders, employees, friends and interested individuals are all invited and are encouraged to come. Simply contact the chamber office and they will make arrangements for you to be there. You will be glad you did.
