Short? We all are!

Have you ever heard of “short man syndrome?”

Maybe you know someone who suffers from this complex. They say that men who are shorter than average have a complex about their physical stature. They feel as if they don’t measure up and maybe are even a little jealous at the height and strength of taller men.

I don’t know about all of that, I think it’s just who you are standing beside. I’ve got a brother-in-law who is a good six inches taller than me and several friends who are shorter than me. I look at it this way, the shorter you are, the closer to the ground you are and that just means you are more grounded!

Well, I’m being a little humorous but seriously I know some tall, strong “men” that aren’t much of a man. Conversely I know some shorter men but they are giants as far as morals and integrity go.

There is no need to fret or worry about being short. I read in God’s word that in the eyes of a Holy God we are all “short.” That’s right, even the tallest recorded man in the world still comes up short to God.

The Holy Bible says in Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” This means that as much as we may try not one of us has what it takes. We never can do enough or give enough to reach or earn God’s glory.

What glorifies God is when a lost man, woman, boy, or girl sees him/herself for what they are, (sinners separated from a Holy God) repents, and trust by faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. Then God gets glory when that person grows and matures in grace.

What has dwarfed every single person that has ever been born is sin. Ever since Adam and Eve sinned in the garden we have all been “short” due to the vile, ugly results of sin. But I’m glad that in the divine plan of God, He made a way that we can “grow up” for Him.

I want to ask you a very direct question. Where do you measure up with God? If you still find yourself “short” in sin, God has provided a way for you to start growing and his name is Jesus.

Tune in to WBCU 103.5 FM Sundays at noon for the Shining Light Broadcast. I preach a 15-minute message that I pray will be a blessing to those who listen.
