A Milton, Fla. teen with ties to Union County will wrestle for the US Naval Academy at Annapolis, Md.

Cory Menefee, 18, a member of the Milton High School Wrestling Team, has been accepted to the Naval Academy based on his grades and on a wrestling scholarship. In January, Menefee was honored by his school for having 100 wins in his career. He achieved his 100th win during this year's Panhandle Championship in Florida. During the championship, Menefee, 145 pounds, made the fastest pin at 21.5 seconds.

Menefee is the son of Andrea and Ben Menefee of Milton, Fla.; the nephew of Gigi and John Garner of Union; the grandson of Tina Griffin of Woodbridge, Va. and the late Roger Griffin of Union; the great-grandson of Julia Garmon of Union; and the great-grandson of the late Mrs. Ruth Griffin of Jonesville.
