Man allegedly hits woman, destroys phone

A Union man ended up in jail after he allegedly hit a woman and destroyed her cell phone.

Kevin Darnell Scott, 32, 1208 W. Main St., Apt.8-B, Union, is charged by the Union Public Safety Department with criminal domestic violence and malicious damage.

The incident report states an officer was dispatched Wednesday morning to Scott's residence in reference to a domestic dispute with assault. The victim told the officer Scott had assaulted her and destroyed her cell phone. The woman said a verbal altercation had taken place when Scott accused her of cheating. She said he crushed her LG model 620 cell phone with his hand and threw it to the floor. The victim said Scott then grabbed her about the neck and slapped her two or three times about the face.

The report states the officer observed redness on the right cheek of the victim's face. He also observed items in the bathroom to have been knocked out of place as if a physical altercation had occurred.

The victim provided the officer with a written statement and said she wanted to press charges against Scott.

The officer then spoke with Scott who the report states admitted to damaging the cell phone He said he'd observed evidence on the phone of the victim cheating and had destroyed it. However, he said he'd never touched the victim during their verbal altercation.

The officer then placed Scott under arrest and transported him to jail.

Crack Cocaine

A Union man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly selling crack cocaine on three separate occasions in August.

Brian Keith Dawkins, 37, 1034 Neal Shoals Road, Union, is charged by the public safety department with three counts of distribution of crack cocaine and three counts of distribution of crack cocaine within one-half mile of a park.

The warrants for Dawkins' arrest states that on Aug. 10, 11 and 13, he sold a quantity of crack cocaine to a confidential informant in exchange for fund provided by the police. The sales all took place on Chambers Avenue within one-half mile of a park on West Henrietta Street.
