11 Union County racers take part in marathon

CHARLESTON — The first Charleston Marathon was held on Saturday, Jan. 15 and 11 Union County racers participated at the event. David Kitchens and Eddie Adams of Union qualified for the Boston Marathon with their performances.

David Kitchens, 51, 3:17:09, 34th place overall, second place age group 50-54; Eddie Adams, 54, 3:32:09, 74th place overall, fifth place age group 50-54; Brian Childers, 41, 3:41:44, 108th place overall; Pete Cochran, 50, 3:57:25, 211th place overall; Chip Bevis, 40, 3:56:59, 215th place overall; Shep Bevis, 36, 4:08:51, 282nd place overall; Dale Wendell, 52, 4:12:34, 308th place overall; Stephanie Kitchens, 36, 4:45:01, 514th place overall; Susan Cochran, 51, 5:21:05, 665th place overall.

Half marathon (13.1miles)

Maurice Bevis, 66, 2:03:33, 631st place overall, fifth place age group 65-69; Amanda Bevis, 34, 2:03:49, 639th place overall.
