Union man arrested for allegedly attacking pregnant woman

A Union man was arrested Sunday after he allegedly attacked a pregnant woman.

James Earl Mobley, 19, 207 E. Henrietta St., Union, is charged by the Union County Sheriff's Office with criminal domestic violence.

The incident report states the victim said she and Mobley were at 418 Fairwood Boulevard, Room 21, early Sunday morning when they got into an argument. The woman, who said she was six months pregnant, told the responding deputy the argument was about Mobley talking to another girl. The victim said she went out and got into the car to be taken home. She said Mobley pulled her from the car so she went back into the room to call her cousin to come get her.

The victim said Mobley then slammed her down onto the bed and repeatedly hit her on both sides of her head, continuing to do so until he heard a knock at the door. When he answered the door, the victim said she ran out and called 911. She said it was then Mobley got in his car and left.

The report states deputies located Mobley in his car on Riley Road and stopped while another deputy questioned the victim and a witness. The witness was a housekeeper at the motel who said she was in the next room when she heard the victim screaming. She said she knocked on the door of the room the victim and Mobley were in to help the victim. The housekeeper also showed the deputy where the room telephone had been pulled from the wall and thrown onto the bathroom floor causing $15 in damages. Based on the statements of the victim and witness, deputies placed Mobley under arrest and took him to jail.

The victim was transported to Wallace Thomson Hospital for treatment. A deputy met her there and obtained a written statement and photos of her injuries as evidence.

More Criminal Domestic Violence

A Union man was arrested after allegedly pushing a woman to the ground during an argument at a party.

Benjamin Starlin McClurkin, 40, 100 Face Lane, Union, is charged by the sheriff's office with criminal domestic violence.

The incident report states a deputy was dispatched shortly after midnight Saturday to 406 Drugstore St. in reference to an assault. The victim said she and McClurkin were there for a birthday party and were drinking. As she was leaving the residence they got into an argument and he pushed her to the ground. The report states the deputy noticed the victim had a scrape on her left leg and a cut on her head. The deputy then went to McClurkin's residence, arrested him and took him to jail.

Drug Distribution

Nearly five months after he allegedly sold pills to an undercover operative, a Union man was arrested last week.

Carl Charles Patrick, 48, 212 Kissy Creek Circle, Union, is charged by the sheriff's office with distribution of Schedule III narcotics. The offense report states narcotics officers with the Union County Sheriff's Office Drug Task Force used an operative to make an undercover purchase of Hydrocodone pills on July 19, 2010, at 270 Oakland Road using recorded government funds. Patrick was taken into custody Friday afternoon.

Assault And Battery

A 15-year old juvenile who allegedly pushed another teen Friday morning is being charged with assault and battery by the public safety department.

The incident report states the victim and a witness told the responding officer the 15-year-old and the victim were in an argument while at 1163 Lakeside Drive, Union. The 15-year-old tried to start a fight by shoving the other teen twice. The report states the juvenile admitted to shoving the other teen. After being charged, the 15-year-old was released to his guardian.

The following persons were arrested by the sheriff's office.

Ronnie Johnson, 56, 189 Weeping Oak Drive, Spartanburg, charged Sunday with fraudulent check.

Lillie Dawn Jordan, 35, 1815 Lockhart Highway, Union, charged Sunday with breach of peace.

Jimmy Dale Price, 35, 214 C Gault Ave., Union, charged Saturday with breach of peace.

The following persons were arrested by the Union Public safety department.

Jason Allen Rhodes, 29, 410 S. Main St., Jonesville, charged Monday with speeding and no SC driver's license.

Stanley Eugene Jeter, 44, 481 Fairwood Boulevard, Union, charged Monday with disorderly conduct.

Christina Deann West, 24, 225 Kissy Creek Circle, Union, charged Wednesday with driving under suspension.

Matthew Ryne Vanderford, 20, 802 Canal Road, Lockhart, charged with driving under suspension first offense.
