With hard work comes success.

And, with success comes rewards.

After winning two region championships this fall, the postseason honors came pouring in for Union County High School when the fall sports 2010 All-Region teams were released Wednesday.

Union County head coach Kelly Jenkins was named the Region III-3A Tennis Coach of the Year. The Lady Jackets won their second consecutive region championship and advanced to the second round of the 3A state playoffs before losing to Greenville — who finished as upper state champions.

Senior Kelsey Harris, Lauren Harrison and Abby Allen were named to the All-Region tennis team for their efforts this season. Union County went undefeated in region play and advanced further than any other team in the region during the state playoffs.

Another Yellow Jacket leader was tagged as the region’s coach of the year.

Yellow Jackets head coach David Lipsey earned Region III-3A Football Coach of the Year honors after the Jackets went undefeated in region play to claim the region title.

Union County had eight players named to the Region III-3A All-Region football team.

Seniors Jordan Sims, Desmond Floyd, John Simmons Fallaw, Robert Littlejohn, Jason Adams and Josh Armstrong along with sophomore sensations Victor Ruth and Keiston Smith were named to the All-Region team.

The Jackets went on an eight-game winning streak before losing in the second round of the 3A state playoffs vs. Fairfield-Central.

Another group of Lady Jackets earned honors as the Yellow Jackets had four named to All-Region from the cross country team and senior Megan Russell — a volleyball standout.

Amanda Sinclair, Hydia Green, Christa Green and Kelley Strong all finished in the top 10 during the Region III-3A championship to earn postseason awards. Sinclair finished in first place at the region championship meet with a 21:01 run. The Lady Jackets finished second in the region behind first-place Blue Ridge.

Russell — who has signed to play softball at North Greenville — led the Yellow Jackets as a defensive specialist at the libero position and was named All-Region on Wednesday.

Jesse Luttner was named All-Region after his sixth-place finish at the region championship meet. Luttner continously set the pace for Union County’s boys cross country team this season.
