The Lady Tigers rode a 19-8 halftime lead and Dexlie Inman’s 15 points to claim a 34-27 road win.
Other Sims scorers were Diamond Lee with eight points, Kendall Henderson five points, Andrena Jeter four points and Ivey Gilmore with two points. Peyton Martin played “outstanding defense for the Tigers,” according to Sims head coach Kenny Harris.
Along with her offensive contributions, Inman was named the Bantam Chef defensive player of the week.
Boys basketball
Sims 54, Rainbow Lake 46
In boys action, JD Cheek posted a season-high 25 points en route to Sims’ 54-46 victory against Rainbow Lake.
Sims trailed 21-6 at the end of the first quarter on the road .
“We found ourselves down big in the first. We were playing hard, but we just could not put the ball in the basket,” said Sims head coach Mitchell Moss.
The Tigers began making their shots after the opening period as they rallied back with an 18-3 second-quarter run and tied it, 24-24, at halftime.
“The kids fought and battled back which shows the character of our team,” Moss said.
Momentum stayed on the Tigers’ side after halftime as they topped their first-half scoring total by six to score 30 second-half points.
The Tigers (4-1) had two players score in double digits. Cheek’s 25 points led the Tigers and Shemar Glenn added 14 points. Kennedy Beatty scored seven points, Jared Booker netted six points and Noah Green chipped in with two points.
Booker was named the Bantam Chef defensive player of the week for his efforts vs. Boiling Springs and Rainbow Lake.
Both Sims teams travel to Carver on Monday. Girls action starts at 5 p.m. with the boys game to follow.
