The 35-year-old victim told Sgt. Dean Gibson and Deputy James Kershaw that he had walked to the Kangaroo Express on Lockhart Highway around 1:20 a.m. Wednesday to use the ATM machine. He saw three men in the store who seemed to be watching him and making gestures.
Because of this, he decided to use the ATM across the street at Arthur State Bank. He began walking home and noticed the three men were following him. As he was walking up Osborne Street, the men ran up to him pointing guns at him and demanding his wallet. One had a handgun and the other a sawed-off shotgun.
The victim said the men made him take off his boots and pants. As the men were robbing him, a truck came down the road. The victim said the men told him if he tried to stop the truck they would kill him. The men then took his clothing and wallet and fled toward Lockhart Highway. The victim ran home and called 911.
The wallet contained $80 in cash, an ATM card and a state I.D.
The man’s jeans, socks and gray shorts are worth $50
Gibson and Kershaw found the victim’s boots at the intersection of Lockhart Highway and Osborne Street.
