SPARTANBURG — The Lady Jackets took an an early lead but could not hold on in a 64-50 loss Monday vs. Laurens.
Despite losing the first-half lead, Union County head coach Yoneko Washington said her team “gave a good effort.”
The Yellow Jackets led the Raiders 22-12 during the first half but Laurens rallied back to tie the game 29-29 at halftime.
Laurens used momentum gained during their opening half run to fuel their second-half effort as they came out red hot after intermission.
“The Raiders came out fighting and we had too many turnovers and missed too many free throws and lay-ups,” Washington said.
The Lady Jackets were led by Kristin Giles with 28 points including six three- pointers. Kelsey Harris had eight points, McKale Hardy had six points, Mari and Andrea Eison each had three points, Christa Green and CeCe Morman each added a point, Morman had 1 point. CeCe Morman and Hardy led the team in rebounds.
