More than $3 million raised for events center

UNION — The Union Events Center Board of Directors has raised over $3 million in cash and pledges for the construction of the proposed events center the board’s chairman told Union City Council Thursday morning.Council held a workshop session Thursday morning to receive an update on the proposed events center including how much the events center’s board of directors has raised toward the cost of its construction; how much more may have to be raised; whether or not the center is expected to be self-supporting; and its potential economic impact on the community.
