UNION — The first competitive, traveling cheer teams from Union have had an award-winning year, and plans are already in place for next year. The Twist and Shout Cheer and Dance Center began competition cheering in August 2012 and had three teams this year. The Lady Jackets’ softball season came to an end on Thursday night when they suffered a 5-3 loss at the hands of Daniel. With the win, the Lions claimed the 3A Upperstate title. CLEMSON — Clemson University brought a dream to reality on Saturday for local cancer survivor, 10-year-old Trey Sailors. The Union County softball team put itself in the driver’s seat of District 4 on Tuesday night when it defeated Chapin 4-1 on the road to advance to the tournament finale.
