South Hills Complex hosted a men’s softball tournament over the weekend in memory of Kenny Price who lost his battle with MDS on May 22. A graduate of Union High School in 1973, Price was employed by Cone Mill-Carlisle Finishing and attended Tabernacle Baptist Church where for years he’d been a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class as well as the men’s church league softball team.
Six teams competed in Saturday’s tournament including a Tabernacle-based team that called itself ‘Team Moose Head’ to honor the memory of Price who had been nicknamed Moose Head by his teammates.
“We had a good turnout,” said Price’s brother, Johnny Price. “Our family really appreciated the support that was shown for something that meant so much to Kenny.”
Proceeds from the tournament as well as donations received during a performance at Shady’s by the band, ‘Quest’ later that night will go toward the cost of a marker for Price’s grave.
