Guilty pleas heard in General Sessions Court

UNION — The following persons pleaded guilty before Judge Lee S. Alford of York in General Sessions Court at the Union County Courthouse this past week.

Marvin Boler, 559 Cambridge St., Carlisle, to criminal domestic violence second offense, one year suspended upon 30 days and two years probation to be served on weekends with credit for time served; to failure to stop for a blue light first offense, five years and $500 suspended upon 30 days and $500 and two years probation to be served on weekends; to driving under the influence first offense, 30 days to be served on weekends, sentences to run concurrently.

John Crumpton Jr., 120 Sardis Road, Union, to manufacturing methamphetamine first offense, six years suspended upon 18 months and two years probation with credit for time served.

Curtis Garrett Jr., 206 Gault Avenue, Union, to three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and to assault and battery by a mob third-degree (bodily injury), two years suspended upon six months probation with credit for time served on each count, sentences to run concurrently.

Heather Millwood, 302 3rd Avenue, Union, to manufacturing methamphetamine, three years with credit for time served; and to possession of marijuana first offense, 30 days with credit for time served, sentences to run concurrently.

Bryse Rankin, 211 Pine St., Union, to possession of a Schedule II controlled substance first offense and to unlawful possession of prescription medication, time served on each count.

Terry Talley, 107 Lybrand St., Union, to arson third-degree, 30 days with credit for time served; to possession of marijuana second offense or more, one year with credit for time served; to possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine first offense, 18 months with credit for time served; to possession of a stolen handgun, 18 months with credit for time served, sentences to run concurrently.

John Tucker, 440 Joe Walker Road, Union, to possession of cocaine first offense, petit larceny $2,000 or less, and financial transaction card fraud, one year with credit for time served on each count, sentences to run concurrently.

Fredrick Jeter, 126 Perrin Avenue, Union, to indecent exposure and second-degree assault and battery, three years with credit for time served on each count, sentences to run concurrently.

Leontay Jeter, 176 Joe Walker Road, Union, to simple possession of marijuana, 30 days with credit for time served; to possession of crack cocaine first offense, three years with credit for time served; to first-degree assault and battery, four years with credit for time served, sentences to run concurrently.

Leslie Johnson, 161 Red Barn Road, Enoree, to breach of trust over $2,000, five years suspended upon five years probation with credit for time served.

Otis Lipscomb III, 271 Meansville Road #b-7, Union, to possession of cocaine first offense, possession of crack cocaine first offense, malicious damage to property over $2,000, two counts of financial transaction card theft, and grand larceny over $5,000, five years with credit for time served on each count, sentences to run concurrently.

Christopher Gene Moss, 1055 Main St., Buffalo, to two counts of possession of a controlled substance, time served on each count.

Courtney Robinson, 151 Shady Hill Drive, Union, to first degree assault and battery, one year suspended upon three years probation with credit for time served.

Michael Spencer, 101 Ravencroft St., Union, to two counts of distribution of marijuana first offense, three years suspended upon two years probation with credit for time served on each count.

Tuesday, June 18

• The Union County Commission on Alcohol & Drug Abuse‘s Board meets at 5:30 p.m. at the agency. This meeting is also open to the public for anyone desiring to attend.

• Woodmen of the World meets at 6 p.m. at Woodmen Park.

• Union City Council meets at 6:30 p.m. at the City of Union Municipal Building.

Thursday, June 20

• The Good Neighbors Garden Club meets at Andy’s in Buffalo at 1 p.m.

• Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 644 meets, starting with some edibles at 6:30 p.m., followed by the business meeting at 7 p.m. The meeting will again be at the Legion Hut at 120 Scenic Drive in Foster Park, Union. Business includes planning for a possible Veterans Picnic. The VVA meets on the third Thursday of the month, and Vietnam Era veterans interested in becoming members are always welcome as guests.

Friday, June 21

• Rebecca Penland Youth Workshop at the Union County Arts Council’s gallery on Main Street in Union from 9 a.m. until noon. Three-hour still life using pastels for ages 7-12. $15 for UCAC members and $20 for non-members. Call UCAC at 864-429-2817 for more information.

Saturday, June 22

• Downtown Summer Music Fest held at the USC Union Gazebo. This is the second event in the four event series and begins at 11 a.m. The entertainment features “Hit-N-Run” and “Not Even Brothers.” Games and inflatable bounce house will be available for children. This is a free event. Vendors will also be selling food and other items. Monday, June 24

• Union County Arts Council’s Youth Summer Art Camp with Katie Paschall. Students will be taught a variety of watercolor techniques during this week-long camp. The camp will run through June 28 and meet from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the UCAC gallery on Main Street in Union. The cost of the camp is $45 for UCAC members and $65 for non-members with a maximum number of 15 for campers ages 10-17. Call UCAC at 864-429-2817 for more information.

• The Union County Democratic Party will meet at 6 p.m. in the City of Union Municipal Building, 101 Sharpe Avenue. The meeting is open to the public. Ann Stevens, UCDP Chair.

Saturday, June 29

• “Betsy and Company” presents a one day trip to Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Saturday. Departing from Jonesville Municipal Building at 8:30 a.m. and the Old Walmart parking lot at 9 a.m. Proceeds go to the Relay for Life. Call 864-674-6799 for more information.

• Union County’s Annual 4th of July Celebration, “Light Up The Lake,” takes place at Foster Park Lake beginning at 6:30 p.m. Family-friendly entertainment features “Prettier Than Matt.” Games and activities available for children. • The Union County Recreation Department is accepting campers for its summer camp program. A weekly fee is charged. Union County Council holds its regular monthly meeting the second Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Grand Jury Room of the Union County Courthouse. The dates for the 2013 meetings are July 9, Aug. 13, Sept. 10, Oct. 8, Nov. 12 and Dec. 10.
