Storm brought nearly three inches of rain to Lockhart
LOCKHART — Precipitation records were broken in Lockhart after rain on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. According to a representative from the National Weather Service (NWS), Lockhart was the biggest reporting site in Union County after three days of rain. The daily precipitation record was broken after the town received 2.75 inches of rainfall on Monday. NWS representatives estimated 2.8 inches of total rainfall over the three days. Although ...

More Watercolor 101

Local artist, Nanette Jenkins, visited Monarch Elementary School April 18 to work with fourth and fifth grade GT art students. She demonstrated many techniques and “secrets” involved in creating a watercolor painting. Ms. Jenkins shared several of her beautiful paintings and stories of studying art abroad with the young artists. The students were captivated by her talent and enthusiasm for the watercolor process. Artists not only were able to “dabble” in the medium, they ended the workshop with their very own watercolor masterpiece!
