She demonstrated many techniques and “secrets” involved in creating a watercolor painting. Ms. Jenkins shared several of her beautiful paintings and stories of studying art abroad with the young artists. The students were captivated by her talent and enthusiasm for the watercolor process. Artists not only were able to “dabble” in the medium, they ended the workshop with their very own watercolor masterpiece!

The bowl was carved by members of the club from a burl on a felled walnut tree at the plantation. Pictured on the front row are David Turner, Buddy Smith, Ola Jean Kelly and Bannie Kennedy. On the second row are Dick Stalnaker, Walter Garner and Butch Starnes. Turner, Kennedy, Stalnaker, Garner and Starnes are members of the club. Under the guidance of Jackie Johnson (garden coordinator) and Susan Adams (custodian), the students planted corn, green beans, squash, okra, and white potatoes.
