Autism event raises $2,300
UNION — More than $2,000 was raised Saturday during a fundraiser to fight autism. Sixth grade students at Sims Middle School were recently "bubbling" over with excitement while doing their math work. Students in Mrs. Susan Gilstrap's math class have been studying circumference and area of circles. As part of the study, students blew bubbles on their desk tops, and measured the diameter and radius of each circle. Then, they calculated the area and circumference of each. This money will be used for Porkchop Productions, The Critter Keeper, and other educational programs this summer.
