CHESTER — Brandon Shetley led the Union County soccer team to a 4-1 region win over Chester on Tuesday night, scoring three of its four goals.
Shetley connected on a shot from the middle of the penalty area with an assist by Lee Dobson to give Union County the early 1-0 lead and a lob shot by Gray Ransom chipped the Chester keeper for a 2-0 advantage.
Shetley made himself at home in the middle of the penalty area. He scored his second goal of the night just before intermission and his third in the second half, from the same spot, as the Jackets went on to a 4-1 win.
“Brandon had a big night,” said Union County Head Coach Jeff Bell. “Our defense and the goalie, Trey Smith, stepped up too. We are playing a little short staffed because we have two seniors dealing with injuries and sickness but we still managed to control the majority of the game.”
