UNION — More than music was doled out during the Union County Arts Council’s “Monday Night Music” program recently. Jim Hance was surprised with a cash award for his volunteer service to UCAC.
“Y’all didn’t have to do that,” was all that the normally talkative Hance could say when called up to accept the award.
“I think that was the first time that I’ve ever heard Jim speechless,” said UCAC coordinator Jackie Senn. “Jim’s great! He shows up to help us hang exhibits, comes in to set up and tear down the equipment for our music programs, painted all of our wooden easels so they’d all match and, basically, he helps us do anything that we need help with. And, usually, without being asked.”
“We just wanted to say thank you to Jim for all of his help,” added UCAC president Bennie Giles. “We hope that he knows how much we appreciate him.”
