Sherbert receives Boinest Morgan Medal

UNION — The Union Music Club awards a medal each year to an outstanding piano student. This medal is the Boinest Morgan Medal, named in memory of Genie Boinest Morgan who taught piano many years in Union.

The recipient this year is Jasmine Sherbert, the daughter of Ruth Sherbert. She is a junior at Union County High School and is a piano student of Suzy Smith.

She performed “Invention in C Major” by Bach at the May 14 Union Music Club meeting.

Union County is sponsoring the Meansville Riley Water Company's application for a $350,000 grant through the South Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority. The grant would enable the company to install approximately 31,000 linear feet of new water main on eight different roadways and improve water quality. If requested to do so, should the county sponsor more such grant applications by other local water companies?
