WHITMIRE — Two railroad crossings in the Town of Whitmire will be closed temporarily next week while undergoing repairs.
Police Chief Jeremiah Sinclair said that his department had been informed by CSX that the crossings on Duckett Street and Smith would be closed on Tuesday.
“They will be closed starting Tuesday morning for one day and possibly as many as three days,” Sinclair said. “CSX said they are closing the crossings for repairs.”
Sinclair said the company did not specify the time the crossings would be closed Tuesday but would notify the town when the work begins.
“They said they’ll call dispatch and let us know when they’ll begin making the repairs,” Sinclair said.
Smith said that traffic will not rerouted while the repairs are being made.
“Those are not heavy traffic streets,” Sinclair said. “There won’t be any detours set up, people who use those intersections just won’t be able to use them while the work is going on.”
