UNION COUNTY — The Union County School District would like to take this opportunity to thank Timken Company Charitable Trust for their generous gift of $3,000 to the Union County Gifted and Talented Program. Their commitment to helping students in our community will have an everlasting impact on their educational endeavors.

Thanks to generous donors like Timken, the Union County Gifted and Talented Program will be able to provide students with the opportunity to showcase their abilities with the ever-changing market of science, technology, mathematics and engineering.

The Timken Young Scientists Camp will be held June 24-28 from 8 a.m.-noon. Information packets were sent home with GT students from their school of attendance on Monday. Students will need to have packets completed and returned by May 24.

Union County is sponsoring the Meansville Riley Water Company's application for a $350,000 grant through the South Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority. The grant would enable the company to install approximately 31,000 linear feet of new water main on eight different roadways and improve water quality. If requested to do so, should the county sponsor more such grant applications by other local water companies?
