Jonesville, Sims Baseball

Sims capitalized on a few critical fielding errors during Thursday’s middle school baseball game at Jonesville en route to a 8-3 win over the Wildcats. Caleb Goodwin got the nod for the Tigers and allowed two hits and two runs during his 4 2/3 innings of work. He walked eight and struck out three before being relieved by Bryan Good.

Sims scored on a passed ball in the top of the first inning to take the early lead and added two runs in the third on an error and a fielder’s choice. Smart base running helped Jonesville scratch a run across in the bottom of the inning but the Tigers plated six in the fourth to take an 8-1 lead. Jonesville added one in the bottom of the fourth and one in the sixth but came up short when the game was called due to the 2-hour time limit. Matthew Caldwell led Sims’ hitting with a pair of singles. Caleb Vanderford, Good Markevius Glenn contributed a hit each for Sims. Peyton Blackwell went 2-3 with a walk for Jonesville and Dijamon McDonald went 1-3 with a RBI.

The Sims softball team continued its hot streak on Thursday with back to back wins over Lockhart Middle.

Rebecca Lee pitched three shutout innings to help the Tigers to a 17-0 win in game one. Lee struck out nine batters.

Ethan Bailey led Lockhart at the plate with a 2-3 performance against Campobello.
