MAULDIN — Young athletes are getting another chance to attend a Trevor Booker basketball camp this week in Mauldin, S.C. Booker is a former Union County High School and Clemson standout, who currently plays power-forward for the Washington Wizards. Booker is teaming with former NBA player Greg Buckner for a week-long camp that will run from June 10-14 at the Mauldin Recreation Center.
The free all-day camp that Booker held at Sims Middle School last weekend drew over 100 children. The campers worked through specialized stations focusing on skill development and competed in five-on-fives.
Growing up, Booker was a fan of NBA star Kevin Garnett of the Boston Celtics. He attended the basketball camps that Garnett put on in his hometown of Mauldin. Garnett’s camp inspired Booker who decided that if he made it the professional level, he’d give back to the community as well.
