Saturday, April 20

8 a.m.-Noon: Life Changing Ministry, 501 Hart St., Union, holds a Clothes Give-Away. There will be shoes and clothes all sizes for men, women, and children as well as pocketbooks and toys. There will be free hot dogs and a drink. Everyone is welcome. Pastor John F. Henderson.

10 a.m.-1 p.m.: Pacolet River Baptist Association hosts the Woman’s Baptist Educational and Missionary Convention of South Carolina Annual District Four Workshop at Wyatt’s Chapel Baptist Church. Rev. James Mason, Moderator. Minister Brenda Byrd, President. Rev. Elijah Ray, Pastor.

5 p.m.: A Relay For Life Songfest is held at St. Luke Baptist Church.

Sunday, April 21

11:15 a.m.: Woodson Chapel Baptist Church holds its annual Missionary Program during the morning service. Minister William Rodgers Sr. is the speaker. The public is invited.

Noon: The Grace UMC RFL team hosts a spaghetti dinner in the fellowship hall. Cost is $8/adult and $4/children and includes spaghetti, salad, bread, dessert and tea. Carry out orders available. Call the church office at 427-1266 to reserve your meal.

Noon: The Bogansville UMC RFL Team holds a Spaghetti Lunch at the Bogansville UMC Church. Spaghetti, salad, bread, dessert and drink. Adults for $7 and $4 for children ages 10 and under. For information contact Lee Gentry at 494-3812.

1 p.m.: The Seventh Day Adventist RFL Team holds a “Yard Sale For Relay of Life,” at the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

2:30 p.m.: Mt. Calvary Baptist Church holds a Family & Friends Day. The Rev. Alan Rector from Community Baptist Church in Arkwright is the guest speaker.

3 p.m.: The Senior Choir of Friendship Baptist Church, 250 Morning Drive in Spartanburg, holds its 63rd anniversary celebration.

6 p.m.: Padgett’s Creek Baptist Church, Union, hosts the Anointed Harmony Gospel singing group at 6 p.m.

Tuesday, April 23

5 p.m.-8 p.m.: The Wandering Friends RFL team holds a Pancake Supper at Bethlehem Church. For information contact Wanda Littlejohn at 426-0245.

Thursday, April 25

4:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.: Augsburg Lutheran Church holds a Spaghetti Supper serving spaghetti with meat sauce, salad, garlic bread, dessert, and drink.

Sunday, April 28

2 p.m.: New Chapel A.M.E. Church, 249 Birth St., Union, holds its Spring Worship Service. Pastor Trina L. Parham will be the guest speaker. Rev. Carolyn Ann Evans, Pastor. “Come and worship with the New Chapel A.M.E. Church Family in spirit and in truth!”

5:30 p.m.: The Fairforest Baptist Church Relay For Life team holds a”Poor Man’s Supper” at Fairforest Baptist Church. For information contact Dora Palka at 674-1905.

Sunday, May 5

11 a.m.: Victory Baptist Church holds Homecoming with Rev. Jack Bratton from Newport, Tenn. preaching the morning service at 11 a.m. and a 2 p.m. singing by the Lamberts. All former members are invited. Everyone welcome.

Saturday, May 18

11 a.m.-5 p.m.: Seekwell Baptist Church, 6166 Brazelsman Bridge Road, Whitmire, holds a May Fun Festival. There will be a gospel sing-off competition and a wrapping of the maypole and food, games, and entertainment. For more information contact Angela Clark at 803-924-0273.

5 p.m.: The Littlejohn Singers of New Emanuel celebrate their 27th Gospel Anniversary.

6 p.m.: The Pacolet River Baptist Sunday School Convention holds its annual Youth Banquet at the Baptist Center on Lovers Lane in Union.

Sunday, June 9

2 p.m.: Sims Chapel Baptist Church holds its Family and Friends Day.

Revivals/Other events

Benefit for Sherry Sizemore Family (proceeds will go towards helping family with medical bills and other expenses) at Putman Baptist Church, 3692 Buffalo-West Springs Highway (S.C. 215) Buffalo, Saturday, April 14. Beginning at 9 a.m. there will be a Hash and BBQ Sale (to go). At 5:30 p.m. there will be a hot dog plate sale (dine in or take out). At 6 p.m. “The Chordment Quarter will be in concert.

The Pacolet River Baptist Sunday School Convention holds its annual Baptist Education, Mission and Training Clinic from April 22 through April 26. The Rev. Wendell Cain of Crossroads Baptist in Sharon is the guest lecturer at 8 p.m. April 23. Monday through Thursday repasts are served at 6:30 p.m., devotion is at 7 p.m. Friday, repast is served at 6 p.m., devotion at 6:30 p.m.

Victory Baptist Church, 187 Neal Shoals Road, holds spring revival May 1-4. Pastor Clifford Phillips of High Point, N.C., will be preaching. Services will be at 7 p.m. Everyone welcome.

Ongoing Events

Mitchell Chapel Christian Church, 381 Kelly Road in Union, holds services at its new location, 143 Camelot Drive in Union.

A Moms in Prayer group meets at 10 a.m. Tuesdays in the Family Ministry Center of Bethel United Methodist Church, 1705 Lockhart Highway. All interested persons are invited to participate.

The Missionary Auxiliary of the Pacolet River Baptist Association has an Emergency Food Pantry in the rear (annex) of the town hall in Jonesville. The pantry is open Friday from 9:30 a.m. to noon and other times by calling the numbers posted on the sign at the entrance of the annex. Bring identification and proof residence.

Covenant Baptist Church will have a Sunday meal once a month for Relay For Life. The meals will be held at 12:30 p.m. on February 17, March 17, and April 21. Call Ponnee at 427-3102.

New Emanuel Chapel Baptist Church has changed its services times to 9 a.m. for Sunday School and 10 a.m. for Praise and Worship.

Union County is sponsoring the Meansville Riley Water Company's application for a $350,000 grant through the South Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority. The grant would enable the company to install approximately 31,000 linear feet of new water main on eight different roadways and improve water quality. If requested to do so, should the county sponsor more such grant applications by other local water companies?
