UNION — The Carolina Muddogs went 3-1 over the weekend and were crowned the 12U USSSA Southeast Regional Gold Division Champions. On Saturday, the Muddogs defeated the Upstate Yankees 13-0 and then lost to the Carolina Braves, 8-4.
On Sunday, the Dogs saw the Braves in a rematch of the second game. This time, the Union County-based team took a 6-1 win to set up the championship game versus the District 5 Rebels.
In the tournament finale, the Muddogs routed the Rebels, 11-2 to earn the division title.
The Muddogs are coached by Frank Humphries, Scottie Burris, and Pat Beacham.
