UNION — Union County wide receiver T.J. Foster recently nabbed his first offers to play collegiate football. The 6-foot-3, 175-pound 2014 prospect received a call from Louisville on Monday and Eastern Carolina the following morning.
Union County Head Coach Steve Taneyhill said that his quickly rising prospect could fit easily into either program and he feels this is just the tip of the iceberg for Foster’s recruitment.
“We’re getting some offers rolling in here and it’s good to see some of our younger kids being noticed,” said Taneyhill. “Louisville is a big time program and East Carolina throws the ball a lot, so those are good offers for T.J. Those are from the the last two days and I expect more.”
Last season Foster saw time on both sides of the ball during Union County’s playoff run. Already an established member of the receiving core, Foster aided the defense in the second half of the season as a safety and was an immediate impact player.
He’s not sure yet if his services will be needed defensively this year but if he’s called on, he’ll be ready.
“I just always play hard, no matter what,” said Foster. “I’m working on smart-reading the defense and getting faster during the off-season so I’ll be ready in the fall. I’m glad to have Louisville and Eastern Carolina looking at me but when the season get here I’m gonna put it out of my head and just play ball.”
