JONESVILLE — A fundraiser featuring music, food and fellowship is scheduled for June 29 at The Potter’s Storehouse in Jonesville.
The Levitical Ministry of Serenity — a local spiritual vocal group — will hold a benefit for The Potter’s Storehouse Distribution Ministries at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, June 29 at the church, which is located at 618 Gaffney Highway (S.C. 18) in Jonesville.
Serenity — made up of nearly 20 vocalists — has been together since 1999. The group will perform at the benefit, along with a group from Laurens known as The Crew and others.
Serenity’s Rossi Hames said he first became aware of The Potter’s Storehouse (TPS) last year after reading several newspaper articles, and members of Serenity decided to visit to find out more about the ministry.
“It’s amazing how much work they do,” Hames said. “They are doing lots of work in the county, and we know people who are benefiting from it. But TPS hasn’t really been getting all the help it needs.”
Members of Serenity originally planned to hold an outdoor event at TPS last year, but were unable to do so due to scheduling conflicts. However, keeping with the group’s mission to help out in the community, Serenity will hold the event on June 29.
Hames said donations are already coming in, and he is expecting a large turnout from local churches and the community.
A hot dog sale will also take place during the event.
“While raising funds for TPS, we hope that lives are encouraged and that lives can be changed,” Hames said.
On a regular basis, TPS provides food and some household products for 1,700-2,100 families, which equals more than 4,000 individuals.
