UNION — Evan Haney, a senior at Union County High School, recently received two music-related scholarships.
He auditioned at Presbyterian College in February and received a scholarship which is renewable for all four years. He performed “Elegie” Opus 3 No. 1 by Rachmaninoff and “La fille aux cheveux” by Debussy.
The requirements for keeping this scholarship are that he must maintain a high GPA and participate in music ensembles and private lessons each semester.
Additionally, he has been chosen to be a recipient of the Cornelia Greer Walker Scholarship by Union Music Club.
Evan will be performing the Rachmaninoff piece at the Union Music Club meeting on Tuesday, May 14, at 6 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church. The public is cordially invited to attend.
Evan is the son of Mark and Joanne Haney and is a piano student of Suzy Smith. He is also a member of the gifted and talented class at Union County High School under the leadership of Leigha Pace.
