UNION — Union County High School hosted the Union County School District 2012-2013 Student Recognition Awards Ceremony this week. The event included a message of motivation and encouragement from 2013-2014 District Teacher of the Year Matthew Carroll.

Music for the event was provided by the Union County Schools Concert Orchestra, which was directed by John Kvasnicka. Orchestra members were Allison Hart, Bridgette Sumner, Brittany Pierce, Gino Ferguson, Jeremiah Jeter, Jessica Sowers, Jonathan Williams, Kiara Williamson, Les Wentz, Mary Scarborough, Najm Thomas, and Victoria Woody.

Monday’s ceremony included recognition for the following awards:

2012-2013 South Carolina Junior Scholars

Jonesville Elementary Middle School — 8th grade

  • Courtney Garner, daughter of Mark and Paula Garner
  • Elizabeth Genoble, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Genoble
